Medicine Basket

Probably the most sacred of objects is the taikwasti. This medicine  basket, made of a reed called “Sai,” is used by a shaman to store his or her Muwieris (feather wands). It is seen as an extension of an individual’s own power or “life force.” The takwasti is used when leading ceremonies and healing. Also, the basket is taken on pilgrimages to sacred places of power as a way in which to pray and store some of the place’s power.
